PE
Ensuring that all our children become 'Healthy Ambassadors' is one of our 5 curriculum drivers. We have designed a high quality PE curriculum to ensure children attain optimum physical and emotional development and good health. Our curriculum aims to improve the wellbeing and fitness of all children at Stanton St Quintin, not only through the sporting skills taught, but through the underpinning values and disciplines that PE promotes.
Physical education is an area of the curriculum that we, at Stanton, love. We are blessed to have a wonderful school field and lots of outdoor space as well as a well-equipped hall for when the weather is bad. At Stanton, we place a lot of emphasis in developing core physical development skills in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 setting before broadening the children's experience with an increasingly wide range of games and sports. We belong to the Chippenham Sports Partnership which facilitates many events and competitions for our children to participate in with other local primary schools in the area. It also allows our children the opportunity to see, first hand, the secondary schools that many of them will eventually move to. We regularly bring in specialist coaches to work alongside our teaching staff. In the last years we have had regular dance, lacrosse and cricket coaches working with us to enhance our provision. Regular after school clubs also provide further opportunity for children to participate in sports they enjoy and recent clubs have included cricket, hockey and lacrosse.
