Computing
At Stanton St Quintin Primary School, we aim to prepare children with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to thrive in the digital world of today and the future. We have introduced a project based approach to some of our provision to run alongside our core curriculum delivery and enhance engagement and creativity. Our curriculum builds steadily on prior knowledge beginning with computational thinking in the Early Years and is arranged throughout Key Stage 1 and 2, into 4 areas: Coding; Collecting (data handling); Communicating (presentation, word-processing, video, audio, and other creative software); and Connect (Internet literacy and safety.) Alongside this, we run in-depth online safety provision to fulfil our statutory obligations and ensure our children are educated and equipped to deal with difficult situations should they arise online.
We are hoping to soon begin a Digital Leaders programme in the near future to increase our capacity for student input to our online safety, as well as run a Code Club to provide more opportunity for students to learn about coding.
