  • Young Voices 2024

    Published 23/01/24

This week we took we took the Stanton choir to the Birmingham Arena to take part in a Young Voices concert. We joined over 5,000 other school children to create the world's largest school choir and the result was spectacular! Our choir had been busy rehearsing the repertoire of songs for weeks, but nothing could prepare them for the moment they walked into the arena and realised the scale of the event they were about to take part in.

During the afternoon, the children saw all the professional performers rehearsing their parts and it was a fantastic opportunity for them to see a range of musical skills in action and realise the importance of practising their musical instruments until you can’t get it wrong.

In the evening, they performed to an audience which included family members. All the children sang and danced their hearts out, making it an amazing and unforgettable experience to be part of.

  • Keeping Safe

    Published 22/01/24

Today we were visited by a team of St John’s Ambulance responders, to learn all about the important and lifesaving work that they do every single day.

Each class took part in a workshop, learning how to put each other into the recovery position and what to do in the case of an emergency.

We were curious to explore the inside of an ambulance and learn about the crucial equipment on board and how it may be used.

The children asked lots of important questions and have acquired skills they may need to use in the future.

    National Illustration Day

This term, we marked the very first National Illustration Day by exploring the wonders created by children’s illustrators. We visited the library to delve into our books and find our favourite illustrations to then recreate.

The children talked about their favourite illustrators and what they liked about their chosen illustration.

We now have a beautiful Stanton Illustrators display adorning our library corridor.

  • Bethlehem Bake Off

    Published 19/12/23

Last week Darling and Amazon Class performed the most incredible showstopper performance of Bethlehem Bake Off to our friends, families and all those dear to us.

It was a sensational retelling of a group of angels, wise men and shepherds who were on route to see the birth of baby Jesus. Whilst on their journey, they stopped at the Bethlehem Bake Off Inn to take part in the prestigious baking competition, to try to win the prize of Celestial Baker ⭐️

The children made us so exceptionally proud of their efforts; performing their lines, singing and dancing, and filling us with such warmth and festivities at this special time of year.

Thank you to all of the parents/carers who attended our maths workshops last week. At Stanton we teach maths is through a mastery approach. The mastery approach focusses on fluency in early number and a confidence and flexibility with number.

The workshop shared information on these skills and how parents/carers can support children at home with early number. It also explained the homework programme which helps children practise the mastery approach at home in a practical and fun way.
