School Development Priorities

Each year the governors review the school development priorities that are then used to produce the School Development Plan. (SDP) The following are the school's priorities for 2016-2017.

Leadership and Management


Further develop distributive leadership across the school

  • Support new subject leaders and teaching and learning role.
  • Increase visibility and communication of the Governing body to the school community.

Teaching,  Learning inc Learning Environment and assessment


Develop Fluency in Maths

  • To continue to develop fluency across the school by using maths facts books & times table booklets  and maths games sent home termly
  • KS2 to use Wiltshire arithmetic booklets weekly.
  • Outdoor learning across the school, including wooded area.
  • Launch Class Blogs as part of Keeping In Touch Project.

Improve outcomes for writing across the school (English)

  • Greater opportunities and quality of writing across the school - cross curricular and applied.
  • Create an effective subject leader that is proactive in ensuring high quality provision including teaching and learning across the school.

Outcomes for Pupils


  • Y1 and cumulative Y2 phonic scores are at least in line with National averages.
  • Spelling at end of KS2 is at least in line with National - be aware of cohort sizes impacting %.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare

  • Children's behaviour and attitudes to learning are excellent.
  • Children feel safe at school.
  • Children feel they can speak to adults within the school - they have a voice individually and collectively.
  • Pupil Parliament provides a platform for pupil engagement.
  • Safeguarding procedures are robust within school practices.
  • Achieve Healthy Schools Status.
